Job Description

 

 

Maintenance Technician Required Skills and Education:

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    ·       Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building repairs.

    ·       Must be familiar with state and local childcare facility regulations and safety codes.

    ·       Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environments.

    ·       Requires ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.

    Education or equivalency:

    ·       Requires a high school diploma or GED.

    Experience:

    ·       Proven experience in facility maintenance, preferably in a school, daycare, or similar environment.

    Specialized training:

    ·        

    Certification/licensure:

    ·       Certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing fields preferred.

    ·       Technical certification in maintenance-related fields is a plus.

     

Maintenance Technician Job Responsibilities:

 

A Maintenance Technician helps ensure the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of our early childhood education facilities. This role is essential in providing a safe and well-maintained environment for children, staff, and families. The ideal candidate will have experience in facility maintenance, be proactive in addressing repairs, and have a strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to childcare environments.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1.

Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security. Ensure that classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas remain in excellent condition, addressing any repair needs promptly.

2.

Respond quickly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs to ensure a safe and uninterrupted learning environment. Conduct general facility upkeep, including minor carpentry, painting, and plumbing repairs.

3.

Maintain playground equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Regularly inspect and repair doors, locks, gates, and security systems to ensure child safety.

4.

Follow health and safety protocols, including proper handling of cleaning supplies and ensuring compliance with licensing and state childcare facility regulations. Work closely with administrative and teaching staff to address facility concerns effectively.

5.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and completed repairs. Assist with seasonal maintenance tasks, such as snow removal or landscaping as needed.
